Condit: The Hanover Theatre Announces Season Full of Broadway Smash Hits

Thursday, April 09, 2015

Broadway in Worcester just keeps getting better, with seven distinctly entertaining shows overflowing with laughter, excitement, electrifying dance, celebrated scores, inspiration and unforgettable stories.

The 2015-16 Broadway Series kicks off with The Producers October 23-25, 2015. Based on Mel Brooks’ classic cult comedy film, the musical sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor. It is truly a “boffo” hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards and wowing capacity crowds night after night.

Audiences everywhere are excited about the record-setting Broadway holiday sensation, when Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical opens their tour at The Hanover Theatre November 6-8, 2015. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations, combined with hit songs including “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, where we’re all reminded of the true meaning of the holiday season.

“One of the best musicals in recent decades,” according to the Hollywood Report, Ragtime won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Musical Score. This 13-time Tony Award-nominated musical is a timeless celebration of life, set to music, and is coming to the stage January 29-31, 2016.

Personally, I can’t wait to meet those dancing feet when 42nd Street comes to town February 19-21, 2016. Winning four Tony Awards, this quintessential backstage musical comedy classic is the song and dance fable of Broadway and includes some of the greatest songs ever written, including “We’re In The Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway” and of course “42nd Street.”

The new Broadway Series also includes the world’s best-loved musical when Annie returns to The Hanover Theatre in time-honored form. Let’s just say that I can’t get “Tomorrow” out of my head! Check out the Behind the Scenes segment talking about the subscription series and some clips of Tony Award winners, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, talking about the music we’ll get to hear when this spectacular production comes to the theatre March 11-13, 2016.

I also had the pleasure of speaking with the director of the brand-new Saturday Night Fever tour, Jeff Moss. Hear what he has to say about telling the story of this iconic film on stage, through music and dance. I was already excited to get my 70’s groove on, but now I truly can’t wait until next May to experience the fun this production is bringing to our stage!

Sometimes we have to save the best for last, including the name of the seventh show in the 2015-2016 Broadway Series. This show is so hot, in fact, that we can’t even announce it yet, although we can tell you it will be playing June 7-12, 2016. Other than that, the only clues are that it is a record-breaking sensation and the perfect ending to a crowd-pleasing season! Look for the theatre’s top secret subscription show announcement on May 11, 2015 for more details. In the meantime, consider subscribing today in order to guarantee the best seats, best value, best benefits, and extra deals all year at one of the top 50 theatres in the world! The Hanover Theatre is offering a number of incentives so that everyone can share the experience of Broadway, music and more.
