"The Hottest August" at Park View Room

A complex portrait of a city and its inhabitants, The Hottest August gives us a window into the collective consciousness of the present.

The film's point of departure is one city over one month: New York City, including its outer boroughs, during August of 2017.

It's a month heavy with the tension of a new President, growing anxiety over everything from rising rents to marching white nationalists, and unrelenting news of either wildfires or hurricanes on every coast.

The event begins at 7 p.m.

Maple Days 2020 at Old Sturbridge Village

For many at Old Sturbridge Village, the first whiff of spring isn’t the aroma of spring flowers – it’s the smell of wood smoke and maple syrup, a sure sign that the sap is rising and spring is on the way.

Join in for “Maple Days” select dates in March, when the Village’s working sugar camp demonstrates maple sugaring as it was done in early 19th-century New England.

Maple Days begins at 9:30 a.m.
