VIDEO: Red Sox Get Pummeled By Yanks in London - Twice
Monday, July 01, 2019
Yankees and Red Sox have played the first two Major League Baseball games in London.
MLB has previously hosted regular-season games in Mexico, Australia and Japan.
Boston has been crushed in both games. New York Yankees won Saturday 17-13 and Sunday 12-8.
Red Sox gave up 29 combined runs in two games, and the Yanks had a combined 32 hits.
There were Princess and Princess as Harry and Meghan Markle attended one of the games.
There have been mascot races during the series, similar to the famous sausage races in Milwaukee and presidents races in Washington.
The London mascots were Freddie Mercury, Winston Churchill, King Henry VIII and the Loch Ness Monster.
There were roving vendors selling food and beverages, which is unusual for London. During European soccer matches, fans typically wait until halftime to flock to the concession stand. 141,900 square feet of artificial turf came from France, and the infield dirt and clay was sent from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
