Woman Struck by SUV in Parking Lot of a Stop & Shop in Worcester

A woman was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe and had her legs run over while she was on the ground in the parking lot of the Grafton Street Stop & Shop in Worcester. 

The incident happened while the woman, 73, was leaving the store and pushing her shopping cart through the lot. 

Her injuries are not life-threatening. 

 At this time, there is no additional information to release as investigation is active

The Incident 

On Wednesday, December 28, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Worcester Police responded to the Stop and Shop parking lot located at 949 Grafton Street for a report of a pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, police saw a 73-year-old woman lying on the ground being helped by several citizens. She was conscious and alert but was suffering from lower body injuries and head pain.

When police arrived, the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate. Initial information obtained at the scene showed that the victim left the store and was pushing her shopping cart through the lot when she was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe being driven by a 39-year-old woman. The impact of the crash caused the victim to fall to the ground, at which time the Santa Fe ran over her legs. 

The driver immediately stopped and several witnesses came to the aid of the victim.
