Fit for Life: No Easy Way Out‼️

Saturday, August 17, 2019

Matt Espeut

If success were easy, the world would be full of millionaires with 6 pack abs. But it’s not!!

Yes, there are a lot of millionaires, and a lot of people with 6 pack abs, but there are far more people that aren’t, and to have both, well that’s even more of a rarity.

Why is that?

When it SEEMS so easy for the people that have already accomplished one or the other?

It’s because you don’t see the behind the scenes activities that it takes to achieve success either financially or physically.

And the truth be told, not many people are willing to sacrifice the time, energy, or hard work it takes to be successful on any level.

I don’t find it that difficult to achieve great health and fitness because I live and breathe the lifestyle, however reaching the level of success that I am striving for is taking me a long time and is still a work in progress.

I am not even shooting for millionaire status (although it would be nice), I am talking about making a living that I consider successful and will give me enough freedom to travel and not worry about retiring comfortably.

Ya see, success slips away from many people because it looks a lot like hard work, and it is.

It’s not easy to stay fit and healthy, nor is it easy to make even a 6-figure income.

Let’s reverse engineer it.

To make a $100,000 per year you need to earn 8,333.33 per month, which breaks down to $1924.55 per week or $48.11 per hour for a 40-hour work week.

With that being said, very rarely can someone making 100k per year get away with a 40-hour work week which is a big reason why not many earn that much.

Who gets almost $50 per hour working a 9-5 job?

So, what does it take to be successful?

There are several things that tie into the formula, the first being discipline.

Show me a successful person, and I guarantee they have a disciplined routine.

They get up early, make lists, structure their day and get shit done!!

Fit and healthy people prepare their meals, schedule their workouts, get enough sleep, and exercise discipline when tempted with things that will derail their goals. When they go to restaurants, they order clean foods, limit alcohol consumption, and usually say no to the dessert menu. Yes, sometimes we make exceptions and have a cheat meal, but 90% of the time, fit people make wise choices.

When they hit the supermarket, they purchase the necessities and pass the cookie and junk food aisle. Is this a difficult thing to do? Yes, it absolutely is, however when we exercise those discipline muscles, it gets easier.

When it comes to financial success, discipline is just as important. You can’t sleep in, take sick days, leave work early, and expect financial success. You can’t spend the day scrolling or surfing social media and expect great things to happen. (Unless you are an internet influencer, and that gets you paid). You need to be at work on time, present, and ready to go above and beyond what is expected of you in order to break out of the average / mediocre status and dominate your profession.

I’ll simplify it for you.

Suffering and making sacrifices are a way of life, and it’s all a matter of what we want more.

Do you want to look and feel great, or do you want that doughnut?

Are you going to the gym, or would you prefer staying in bed, or watching tv later in the day?

Do you get up early in the am to get a jumpstart on your day or do you hit snooze?

Do you stay at work late and do extra or are you the first one out the door?

In other words, are you sacrificing the things you would like to do for the things you need to do to reach your goals?

Lack of discipline equates to laziness, taking the easy way, and always seeking immediate gratification.

Hitting the snooze button in the morning is being unmotivated, and it’s easier than jumping out of bed and attacking your day.

It’s not a matter of being tired, although it gives you immediate gratification and you think you are getting quality sleep, it ruins your morning because you are stressed out, in a rush, and you tend to run late for work.

Going through a drive thru is easier than prepping your meals, and although you get immediate gratification from eating garbage food, that lack of discipline will put a roadblock in front of your fitness goals.

Meeting your friend for drinks and missing a workout is easier and more fun than going to the gym to push your limits, sweat, and grind out a workout, but how far will you get on a fitness level doing that regularly?

This even holds true for a successful relationship. If you don’t put in the work or seek immediate gratification by cheating on your spouse or hitting the bar after work, it will equate to a horrible existence for both.

However, if you take the time to text randomly, send flowers, cook meals, and schedule date nights, things will more likely be better.

Now if you expect to take the easy way out and STILL see results, you are not only delusional, but you have a sense of entitlement and feel like you deserve results without putting in the time necessary.

The only way to reach success is to work hard, up your standards, develop habits that will enhance your levels of discipline, and be consistent with taking steps in the right direction.

You will never reach true success on any level by seeking immediate gratification and looking for the easy way or the path of least resistance.

If success was an easy task to accomplish, we would all be fit and rich!!

Committed to your success,
